TheBritishsoldierHarryTurnerwas18whenhewasdeployedtoAfghanistan.Hereturnedfromthewarabrokenman.StrugglingwithPTSD,depressionandsuicidalthoughts,hetravelsdeepintothePeruvianrainforest,wherehemeetstheUSscientistSamantha.Together,theytakecareofanorphanedocelot,asmallspottedwildcat.ThefilmconsistspartlyofmaterialthatHarryandSamanthafilmedthemselvesandpartlyoffootagebythedirectorsofWildcat,wholaterjoinedthepair.Intimatemomentsbetweenhumansandanimalsarecombinedwithexcitingshotsofthetreacherousnocturnaljungletoformanemotionallytortuousportraitofapersonconstantlybattlinghisdemons.ItisoutofthisstrugglethatHarryforgesabondwiththeyoungwildanimal.Hisattempttosavetheocelotisaboveallanattempttosavehimself.Andmakingtheanimalself-reliantprovesinfacttobeanexerciseinlettinggo.Asheguidestheanimalinthejungle,Harrymustalsofindhiswaybacktosocietyandtohisfamily.
